The universe, of which we are discrete manifestations, is a macro energy system that exists in harmony and balance, or equilibrium.
Each discrete manifestation of the universe, including each of us, is a subordinate energy system that draws energy from and contributes energy back to the universe, according to its discrete nature. Its continuity, as a discrete sub system of the universe, depends on its nature and the contextual harmony of its nature with the greater universe in which it dwells.
Each sub system of the universe is created by the universe for its own purposes and within its own equilibrium. As long as the particular sub system fulfills those purposes and remains in equilibrium with the universe, its continuity, as a discrete sub system, can be expected to remain. When a particular sub system falls out of equilibrium with the universe, (ie. its energy supply falls short of its consumption, and its energy contribution falls short of its required supply), it either disintegrates, or, while in this realm, must exploit other energy systems for its own supply, contributing to an instance of disruptive imbalance of equilibrium in those systems but not in the greater cosmos. (When a lion is hungry, it might eat an antelope. That particular antelope might have had a calf.)
It has been suggested that a type of lower consciousness is an inherent aspect of the reality of each biological sub system upon its creation. Modern science considers genetic "mapping" or "programming" to be part of DNA. This genetic "mapping" or "programming" facilitates discriminating selectiveness at the cellular level manifesting a form of biological perception. Consciousness has various working manifestations.
