Mind and Spirit

It is conceivable that one might have all the understanding that is necessary for the functional maintenance of the body, and still lack the will (spirit) to apply that knowledge. (I missed tennis clinic and slept in this morning) It is equally conceivable that one might have all of the will (spirit) necessary for the functional maintenance of the body and still lack the understanding of what needs to be done. (Overtraining can weaken the immune system and contribute to other health issues.)

If we lack an understanding of what is required for the proper maintenance of our body, we might rely on someone else to share their understanding with us. However, there are risks associated with borrowed understanding. The chance of negative effects from acting on misinformation is increased along with increased vulnerability to exploitation. (Many fad diets do more harm than good while making their promoters rich.)

If we lack the natural will to attend to the proper maintenance of our body, we might rely on some external motivational stimulus to drive our will. Here there are risks as well. Dependencies and negative side effects are now possible and increase the risk of exploitation. (Keurig Dr. Pepper, Inc. profits from my mid-day energy crashes. The allure of fame and fortune might drive one to take economic risks that aren't realistic.)

Some measure of habitual or forced dependency will naturally follow such scenarios. (A caffeine addict might get a headache if they miss their fix.) With dependency, we become exploitable and some measure of freedom to exercise our own will in accordance with our own pleasure (a measure of energy) will be sacrificed and, as often as not, required and absorbed by another as the price of dependency.

Prolonged acquiescence to dependency results in atrophy of volitional will (spirit), which, in turn, contributes to more dependency. Such is the nature of both the spirit and the body. Whenever the exercise of personal volition (free will ... or ... spirit) is abdicated or obstructed over time, it is ultimately lost to atrophy. Atrophy is a manifestation of entropy.   Volitional energy (will power) dissipates when not used and ultimately ceases to functionally exist for the benefit of one's self, having been forfeited in some other way (submissiveness to one who has acquired the energy we have surrendered).

Neither energy nor matter, ever cease to actually exist. They simply change forms and orbits, being redirected and absorbed into the vortex of other potent energy systems. So, while they do not cease to actually exist, they can be lost to us and cease to functionally exist, for our own personal use.

Accordingly, free independent exercise of one's own personal volition, within appropriate boundaries, is in everyone's best individual self-interest and maximizes each individual's spiritual wellness and vitality. Where such is realized by groups of individuals, in harmony, the collective vitality and spirit of the group is maximized, increasing the potency of functional collective consciousness. Liberty, is, therefore, precious and essential to maximum well being.

This cosmic truth is known throughout the universe both by those who advocate liberty (for this reason) and those who oppose it, with the intention of exploitation of the energy lost to others in mind.

Ultimately, attentiveness to the wellness of mind and spirit benefits the body and sustains the integrated energy systems, and therefore the continuity, of the mind and spirit. Inattentiveness to the wellness of mind and spirit degrades both the mind, and the body, and reduces the spirit to various forms of perpetual dependency. Such a spirit requires external stimuli, that it does not create itself, to excite and energize it. Absent, such external stimuli, it (we) may experience and manifest the turmoil of disruptive disintegration as entropy contributes to dissipation of its energy.
